There's still a liberal collection of 60s inspired mod/ late 70s power pop on Nobody Knows, in particular the title track, My Grandad Jim, Praying Mantis and Words Won't Come, but this time round it feels as if the band is now moving into the late 60s. Medway Sun has very clear reference points to Waterloo Sunset in its languid feel and descriptive lyrics. The London Institute melts into a psychedelic feel mid way through with its guitar effects. As always the "common man" words give everything a very human and warm feel even when the subject matter such as on Vultures (a song about relatives asset stripping an old lady immediately after she dies) touches on the darker side of human nature. For anyone who still harks back to The Who or The Jam in their early prime, the Len Price 3 give you the 21st millennium version...and they do it brilliantly.
